His Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Foot, American Contingent, which reenacts a unit of the British Revolutionary army, is offering a reward of $1,000 for the return of two stolen flags, no questions asked.
These battle flags, or Colours, disappeared from an automobile in Waltham in early January. They are not Revolutionary artifacts; rather, they represent friendship between the U.K. and U.S. of A., having been presented to the group by British supporters in the 1970s.
The flags are made of embroidered silk, over six feet by six feet in size. Their designs appear on this page (which—be warned—also plays music). People can contact the group’s leaders through this page. On each Patriot's Day, the 10th Foot leads the charge on Lexington Green, re-enacting the skirmish that began the Revolutionary War.
I’d like to be able to report the return of these Colours soon.
