On Thursday, 17 April 2008, the Colonial Society of Massachusetts will host a talk by Prof. Marla R. Miller, Director of the Public History Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She will speak on the topics in her book The Needle's Eye: Women and Work in the Age of Revolution, which received the 2007 Millia Davenport Publication Award from the Costume Society of America.
Prof. Miller’s talk will be followed by discussion and light refreshments. The event begins at 3:00 P.M. at the Colonial Society’s house on 87 Mt. Vernon Street on Boston’s Beacon Hill.
The Public History Program has its own event coming up in June: a conference titled “Sustaining the Future of Massachusetts History.” It will be held on Monday, 9 June, from 9:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester.
